Our Approach To Language & Literacy
Holistic Development
Our programs don’t simply focus on one area or skill. We connect and integrate speaking, reading, spelling, pronunciation, comprehension, writing, and using Science of Reading based practices and explicit skill building using a multi-sensory approach to learning and skill acquisition.
Speech-to-Print Methods
To start, we use the speech-to-print approach, using the child’s existing verbal and phonological abilities to bridge the gap to reading proficiency. We teach students to recognize the relationship between sounds and letters and learn to connect sounds to spelling patterns, rules and conventions, which in turn helps support the development of fluent reading, spelling, and writing skills in general.
Step-by-Step
Skill Building
We take a structured, evidence-based approach to building your child’s awareness of words and grasping their connection to sounds. From phonemic to morphological skills, each of the key components of language influence fluency with reading and writing.

Orton-Gillingham: A Proven Way to Help Kids Read
Orton-Gillingham works especially well for children with dyslexia and other learning differences. The method’s step-by-step approach helps struggling readers improve steadily over time. Many parents and educators have seen remarkable progress in children who previously found reading challenging.
By combining structure with flexibility, Orton-Gillingham gives kids the tools they need to become confident, successful readers. If your child is having trouble with reading, this method could be the key to unlocking their potential.
How Does the Orton-Gillingham Method Work?
The Orton-Gillingham approach is a powerful tool for children struggling with reading. Here’s what makes it special.
-
This makes learning less overwhelming for kids
Children can master one skill before moving to the next
-
This “multi-sensory” approach helps information stick
For example, kids might trace letters in sand while saying the sounds
-
Teachers can adjust the pace and focus for each student
This personalized approach helps build confidence
-
Hands-on activities keep kids interested
This can help reduce frustration with reading

-
Our team includes highly experienced literacy specialists who work collaboratively to assess, diagnose, and implement individualized literacy plans with parental involvement.

Your child will gain a range of skills, including phonological and phonemic awareness, sound-letter correspondence, reading fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary building, among others.
-
We always assess a child’s literacy skills at their first appointment, so we don’t require a previous evaluation to begin literacy services. An assessment is an important first step to finding the core areas where your child needs support. This can be a full-scope assessment or something smaller, depending on the child’s needs. If your child has a previous assessment, we’re happy to review the results.
